Installing the flash plugin for Firefox on Ubuntu 10.04 x86_64

Quite a mission, but I learned the hard way to always go back to the Ubuntu Forums.

I’m running one of the first AMD64 processors which, I leaned, complicated matters.

Let me document this installation process of the flash plugin on the 64-bit version of Ubuntu 10.04 as I follow it.

  1. remove previous versions of flash like so
  2. install the flash plugin as described here
  3. if you have a older 64-bit cpu like me (like a Xeon or AMD64) do this
  4. Visit Adobe Flash’s test site to see if you were successful

The process above also gets flash working on Google Chrome.
